GCTask (“GCTask,” “we,” “us”) operates gctask.com, a marketplace that connects homeowners with independent contractors and other home service professionals (“Pros”), and HomeIQ, our home maintenance and property-tracking tool. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, phone number, password, and ZIP code or address when you create an account.

Job and property information: project descriptions, photos and videos you upload, timelines, budget ranges, and property details you add to HomeIQ.

Payment information: when a Pro subscribes to GCTask, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers.

Communications: messages between homeowners and Pros, quote requests, and reviews submitted through the platform.

Phone number and SMS consent: if you opt in to text message alerts, we store your phone number, the fact that you consented, and message delivery records.

Usage data: pages visited, device and browser type, and similar technical data collected automatically to keep the service reliable and secure.

How We Use Your Information

• Match homeowners with Pros who serve their area and trade
• Send job, account, and billing notifications by email and, where you've opted in, text message
• Generate AI-assisted job scopes, budget estimates, and profile content from the details and photos you provide
• Process Pro subscription payments and manage trials/billing
• Maintain the GCTask Score and review system
• Detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and keep the platform secure

SMS / Text Messaging

If you opt in to receive text messages from GCTask (for example, job alerts or a one-time passcode when signing up with your phone number), the following applies:

• No mobile information or SMS opt-in consent is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, under any circumstances. This category of information is excluded from any data-sharing agreement GCTask has with any third party.
• Message frequency varies based on your activity and preferences.
• Message and data rates may apply.
• You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by turning off text alerts in your account settings. Reply HELP for assistance. Reply START to resubscribe.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

• With the homeowner or Pro on the other side of a job you post or bid on — this is how the marketplace works
• With service providers who help us operate GCTask, including Stripe (payments), Twilio (text messaging), Resend (email), Supabase (hosting/database), and Anthropic (AI-assisted scoping and content — see below)
• When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of GCTask, our users, or the public
• If GCTask is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, as part of that transaction

Job descriptions and photos you submit may be sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate scope estimates, budget ranges, and profile summaries. This processing is used solely to power GCTask's own features, not to train third-party models on your data.

Data Retention & Security

We retain account and job information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, to protect your information — no system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices

• Update your account information anytime from your dashboard
• Turn email and/or text job alerts on or off in Settings
• Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us below
• Homeowner property photos on unclaimed or public profiles stay private and are only revealed to a Pro after you choose to share the job with them or they claim/sign up to respond

Children's Privacy

GCTask is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how GCTask is used, so we can improve it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use of GCTask after a change means you accept the updated policy.
