Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of gctask.com and HomeIQ (together, “GCTask”). By creating an account or using GCTask, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use GCTask.

What GCTask Is

GCTask is a marketplace that connects homeowners with independent contractors and other home service professionals (“Pros”). GCTask also offers HomeIQ, a tool for tracking property information and maintenance.

GCTask is not a contractor, and we don't perform, supervise, or guarantee any home improvement work. Pros on GCTask are independent businesses, not GCTask employees, agents, or contractors. Any agreement to perform work is solely between the homeowner and the Pro.

Accounts

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date.
• You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
• You must be at least 18 years old to use GCTask.
• You can sign up with an email address, or, for Pros, with just a phone number verified by a one-time passcode.

Homeowners

• Job posts should accurately describe the project, including photos or video where relevant — this is what GCTask's AI scoping and Pro matching are built on.
• You control who sees full job details and photos; unclaimed or non-account contacts only see limited information until they sign up.
• You're responsible for verifying a Pro's licensing, insurance, and qualifications before hiring, independent of anything shown on their GCTask profile.

Pros

• You represent that any license, insurance, or credential information on your profile is accurate.
• You are solely responsible for the work you perform, and for complying with all applicable licensing, insurance, and safety requirements in your trade and jurisdiction.
• Some features require a paid subscription, billed through Stripe. Pricing, trial periods, and any promotional/“founding member” rates are shown at signup or on the Pricing page and may change with notice.
• You can cancel your subscription anytime from your dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless stated otherwise.
• The GCTask Score and any tier badge reflect factors like profile completeness, reviews, and platform activity — they are not a guarantee or certification of work quality.

AI-Assisted Features

GCTask uses AI to help draft job scopes, budget estimates, profile bios, and specialty summaries from the information and photos you provide. These are estimates and drafts meant to save time — not guarantees of accuracy, final pricing, or project scope. Review anything AI-generated before relying on it, and correct it if it's wrong.

Content You Submit

You keep ownership of the photos, videos, descriptions, and other content you submit to GCTask. By submitting it, you grant GCTask a license to host, display, and use it to operate and improve the service — including generating AI scope estimates and profile content as described above. You confirm you have the right to submit that content.

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent job listings, reviews, or profile information
• Use GCTask to circumvent fees while using information obtained through the platform
• Harass, threaten, or discriminate against another user
• Scrape, resell, or misuse data from the platform
• Attempt to interfere with or disrupt GCTask's systems

Text Messages

GCTask sends two kinds of text messages, both tied directly to your own GCTask account: one-time passcodes to verify your phone number, and — for Pro users who opt in — alerts when a new job matching your own trade and service area is posted, so you can respond to it yourself. These are not advertisements and are not sent on behalf of, or to promote, any unrelated third party. GCTask does not send marketing or promotional text messages. No mobile information or SMS opt-in consent is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, under any circumstances. Full details, including sample messages and exactly how to opt in, are at gctask.com/sms-terms. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Disclaimers

GCTask is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any Pro's work will meet your expectations. GCTask does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated estimates, contractor licensing claims, or reviews, though we take steps to reduce fraud and inaccuracies.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GCTask is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for the acts, omissions, or work quality of any Pro or homeowner. Our total liability for any claim relating to GCTask is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify GCTask against claims, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the platform, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

Termination

You can stop using GCTask and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to other users or the platform.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use of GCTask after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
